Some of you might remember that Microsoft caused some controversy with their OneDrive service. Basically what happened was that they reduced the storage of free users from 15GB down to 5GB. For office 365 subscribers they gave people 10TB of storage and they reduced it down to 1TB. This was due to a small percentage of people “abusing” the service. Since then Microsoft has apologised for the mistake and taken some action to try and appease the masses.
If you are using the free version of OneDrive you will still have 5GB of storage. There is some good news here because you are about to get a lot more storage for free! Here’s how to do this: Click here to visit the page shown in the above picture. Once you do, click on the button that says “Keep your free storage”. You will be prompted to log into your Microsoft/Hotmail/outlook.com account. After that your free storage will be upgraded and you are done!
This entire procedure will only take about a minute or two and you will have your free storage tripled to 15GB. Better still, if you have an additional 15GB from enabling automatic photo upload from your tablet or smartphone in the OneDrive app then you will also get that bonus storage back as well. To put that into perspective you could potentially have between 3 and 6 times the amount of storage for free! You could store almost 18 hours of movies or approximately 20,000 photos with 30GB of storage.
If I were you, I would go and do this right now, because if you don’t jump on this one before the 31st of January 2016 then you are going to miss out on a lot of free storage.
