In a previous post, I wrote about the mac malware called Mac Defender. However, it turns out that there is a new variant of this malware out there called MacGuard. It is similar to Mac Defender, but MacGuard does not require you to enter a password. Instead, it tricks you into entering your credit card(or debit card) details. It will keep on showing pop-up windows until you do so. It also utilizes a feature under Mac OSX.
My advice as usual, is to install the updates that apple release as soon as they are released. If this does not work, then backup your data and be prepared to wipe your hard drive(or SSD) clean and reinstall windows.
This second piece of malware and the fact that there is a development kit to produce similar malware signals the end of the age of innocence for mac users.
The age of innocence refers to a time when mac users could say that the mac is better than windows because it does not get any viruses.
Either way, you are welcome to leave me an ask with your take on the issue. You can also email me your take on the issue. However, you must put the title of the post I have written in the subject. My email address is email@example.com . Please note that I do read all emails sent to me, but I do not have time to respond to all of them.
