The folks at Oculus have been at it yet again. At their Oculus Connect conference, they have unveiled a standalone virtual reality headset called the Oculus Go.
This is going to be a VR headset which does not require a PC to be connected to it.
It has a set of speakers built into it. However if you don’t want to disturb people then you can plug your headphones into the headphone jack.
Of course, being a standalone VR headset, from what we can see so far there does not seem to be a place to put your phone in (like with the Gear VR. With that said, there’s a chance that your phone might go in from the front. They also released a teaser which you can check out below.
The Oculus Go VR headset will set you back $199(£150) and will be released in early 2018.
Personally, one of the questions that I still have is how do you get content onto the headset? I mean, the content needs to come from somewhere if you are not plugging your phone or computer into it. Again, my best guess is that your would put your phone in the front of your Either way, I am sure we will find out more in the coming months.
