Earlier today, Mark Zuckerberg(CEO of Facebook) and Kevin Cistrom(co-founder of Instagram) took the stage at their press event down in Silicon Valley, California USA to make an Instagram announcement. We know that we can already post photos with different filters. However Cistrom announced that as of today, users of Instagram will be able to upload video as well as photos to Instagram. That’s right, you will be able to upload a video so as long as it’s 15 seconds or less. Now, Vine is quite similar to this feature in that you can post 6-second videos online, but you can’t edit them. With Instagram’s offering, you will be able to edit your videos right on your phone and add filters(just like you would with photos). They have also made a video to show off this feature in action.
I know that Vine already has this feature. That being said, I see this as Instagram(owned by Facebook) taking a shot at Vine for not being able to edit videos that you take. I won’t be surprised to see people moving away from Vine and moving to Instagram for sharing video.
