At their Unpacked 5 2014 event, Samsung Announced their new flagship phone, the Galaxy S5.
The phone itself will feature a 5.1″ Super AMOLED Display with a 1080p Full HD screen resolution.
On the inside, we are looking at the following connectivity features:
- 802.11 AC/N/B/G/A Wi-Fi
- LTE Cat 4(150/50Mbps)
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Bonding capability to combine LTE and Wi-Fi so you can get a super-fast internet connections.
In terms of battery, you will get:
- 2800mAh battery
- 10 hours of web surfing over LTE
- 12 hours of video playback
As for performance, you are looking at a 2.5GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S5 will also come with Android KitKat 4.4.2.
Another interesting feature is the camera, you have a 16MP camera with HDR, 0.3 seconds auto-focus and you are looking at a front-facing 2MP front-facing camera. By the way, the HDR also works when taking videos.
You will be able to get this with 16GB or 32GB of built-in storage, but you will be able to add more storage with a micro SD card up to 128GB(for a total of 160GB of storage).
Here are all the various sensors that will come on the Galaxy S5:
- Fingerprint sensor (to unlock the private mode, and enable mobile payments)
- Heart rate
- Proximity sensor
You also have a kid’s mode, which you can set certain apps, games and videos that are OK for kids to consume.
Another interesting feature is the ultra power saving mode. The phone will turn the screen to black and white and shut down all features except essentials such as text messaging and phone calls.
At this time, we know that it will launch April 11th in nearly 150 countries, but we have no pricing information at this time.
