A lot of apps have already been developed for Google Glass(Google’s foray into the wearable computer market). However, eBay have decided to show their hand with an app called RedLaser(currently available on iOS and Android).
Using the Camera built right into Glass, you will be able to take a picture of a bar code or QR code. Using this picture, the app will then search across various websites for similar products and show you current pricing for that. From there, you can then physically go down to the store and then buy it.
To make even easier, you even get directions to the place to buy the item that you’re looking for.
Personally, I believe that this is very clever app. However, it seems like a lot of work just to buy a product. Forgive me for being lazy here, but I would rather pull my phone out of my pocket, go to eBay(or another online marketplace or retailer) and buy the product-in-question. Moreover, Google Glass has a very small screen.Whilst I’ve not used it, I’ve seen enough footage of it to say that it’s a lot of work to do just to buy a product.
On top of that, as Google Glass is still in its infancy, I believe that it has a long way to go before it’s ready for the average consumer to use.
