Nintendo recently confirmed that they are currently working on a new Zelda game for their Wii U games console. Incidentally, with E3 just around the corner they have also confirmed that Zelda for Wii U will be the focus of their presence at E3 and that there will be no other new titles available on the show floor.
Here is what Nintendo of America’s PR department had to say on the matter:
Nintendo changes its approach to the show every year. This June, Nintendo will focus its attentions on the upcoming game in The Legend of Zelda franchise. The Wii U version of the game will be playable for the first time on the E3 show floor, and it will be the only playable game Nintendo presents at the show, in order to provide attendees a complete immersion. Additional information about Nintendo’s E3 plans will be announced in the future.
To me this indicates that they may have some other titles that they are working on right now that might make it alongside Zelda in terms of games that we will be able to play on the show floor of E3.
I am slightly worried for Nintendo’s Wii U in that it’s a dying console. Nintendo is currently the only company making any games for the console (except for Bandai Namco who helped to make Pokken Tournament). With that being said there are some indie developers selling titles on the Wii U eShop but there are no big names (like Ubisoft or EA) making any games for the Wii U.
Do you think Nintendo’s Wii U is dying? Let me know in the comments.
