Apple has announced a new iPhone and it’s called the iPhone SE.
We will start off with the screen. You are looking at a 4″ retina display that has a resolution of 1136×640.
Also on the outside it comes with Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint reader that you can use with Apple Pay(the software that lets you pay for things with credit/debit cards stored on your phone).
On the camera front you are looking at a 12-megapixel iSight camera on the back. This can shoot 4K video at 30 frames per second. It is also capable of taking panoramas with a resolution of up to 63 megapixels.
On the front you have a Facetime HD camera that can shoot video in 720p. This camera also has a flash system whereby the screen of the iPhone SE will flash white so that you can take some good selfies with it.
On the inside you are looking at an A9 processor with the M9 motion co-processor. This will come in handy for things like tracking when you are walking or running. This is basically twice as fast as the iPhone 5S and the same processing speed as the iPhone 6S.
Staying on the inside it’s got 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and LTE.
The iPhone SE also features the ever popular “Hey Siri” command. This basically allows users to activate Siri without having to hold down the home button.
Here are Apple estimates as far as the battery power goes:
Up to 14 hours on 3G
Up to 12 hours on 3G,
up to 13 hours on 4G LTE,
up to 13 hours on Wi‑Fi
Up to 13 hours
Up to 50 hours
Up to 10 days
What about pricing and availability? The iPhone SE will come in either Space Grey, Silver, Rose Gold or Gold. It will start at £359 for the 16GB version or 64GB version. You will be able to pre-order the iPhone SE on the 24th of March 2016(this Thursday) and it will be released on the 31st of March.
Overall there is nothing to write home about with this new iPhone. It’s basically got the same speed in terms of processing power as the iPhone 6S, slightly faster LTE for when you are on-the-go and the “Hey Siri” command.
Are you planning to buy the iPhone SE or will you stay with the iPhone (or other smartphone) that you currently have? Let me know in the comments!
